Analyst Report and Where to Find Them

Contributed by

Analyst report, also known as broker research report, equity research report, investment research report, or sell-side report. It is a document prepared by an analyst that provides a recommendation on whether investors should buy, hold, or sell shares of a public company. Additionally, it provides an overview of the business, the industry it operates in, the management team, its financial performance, risks, and the target price.

The attached materials, including workshop slides and a lesson plan, were modified from the library's prescheduled workshop in October 2025 at NYU Shanghai Library. In this workshop,I demonstrate: how to search for analyst report for different purposes from library databases; how to understand the functions and features of the commonly used library databases for analyst report; and how to use the analyst report critically and ethically.
