What are the Community Guidelines for the Sandbox?

ACRL Framework for Information Literacy Sandbox Community Guidelines

The purpose of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy Sandbox (ACRL Framework Sandbox), located at sandbox.acrl.org, is to serve as a resource for librarians seeking to engage the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (Framework) in their instructional practice, by providing access to materials created by those in the field.

By using the ACRL Framework Sandbox as a searcher and browser (visitor), you agree to the following:

  • To access and use contributed resources according to the terms indicated by the contributor through the license assigned, viewable on the full resource record for each resource. Information about the licenses used in the ACRL Framework Sandbox can be found in the Help Center (see "Sharing in the Sandbox"), though it is your responsibility to understand and apply the license terms appropriately.

  • To access and use contributed resources for educational purposes only, the only exception being if a resource’s assigned license allows reuse of the work for commercial purposes as well. Reuse of resources shared on the ACRL Framework Sandbox site should always be first and foremost for educational purposes.

  • Not to collect or harvest files, data, or information contributors have made available on their contributor profile pages or through their contributed resource records and the materials they contain.

  • Not to reach out to contributors with advertising of businesses, products, or services.

  • Not to send to contributors large volumes of unsolicited email, bulk or mass email (more than 3), for commercial or non-commercial purposes.

  • Not to engage in abusive language, name-calling, insults, harassment, personal attacks, or violation of the law through your participation on this site as a visitor.

By using the ACRL Framework Sandbox as a registered contributor, in addition to the above, you agree to the following:

  • To only share resources and materials to which you have the rights and/or permissions to share.

  • To only assign licenses to resources and materials for which you have the rights and/or permissions to assign. Information about the licenses used in the ACRL Framework Sandbox can be found in the Help Center (see "Sharing in the Sandbox"), though it is your responsibility to understand and apply the license terms appropriately.

  • To only share resources and materials whose purpose is educational, relating to the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education in some way.

  • Not to create any content that can be construed as advertising of businesses, products, or services. “Content” refers to files uploaded, links included in resource records, metadata created for resource records, and information (including images) shared on your contributor profile page. The only exception to this rule is the inclusion on your contributor profile page of a link to your personal website/blog which happens to host a personal business that is directly connected to your work as an educator.

  • Not to engage in abusive language, name-calling, insults, harassment, personal attacks, or violation of the law through your participation on this site as a contributor.

  • Content that is not appropriate to be posted or shared on the ACRL Framework Sandbox site includes, but is not limited to, advertising, material copyrighted by someone other than the contributor unless rights and/or permissions to share have been granted by the copyright holder, or any content that, without pedagogical value, is vulgar, obscene, or contains adult themes or images.

  • If you choose to make your email address visible on your contributor profile page, you assume the risks involved in doing so, including the possibility of email spam resulting from web crawlers and other methods outside the control of the ACRL Framework Sandbox site administrators.
