Learning Outcomes:Students will see best practices on citations for their poster session or honors paper, including key database and RaptorSearch examples.Students will receive a demonstration of the relationship between their reference list and their in-text citations.Students will see examples of how to better integrate citations into their writing, including examples of paraphrasing, summarizing, and incorporating multiple sources or switches among sources.

Directed Research Scavenger Hunt

This exercise gives students a model for approaching a research task, beginning with general information and ending with more in-depth sources. Discussion can focus on research as inquiry, research as strategic exploration, and the context and construction of authority. Students are required to cite their sources using both MLA and APA.

Finding Genetic Information Online & Citing Images

This is a lesson plan, files, and assessment information for an upper level biology class.  It is in two parts, finding genetic information online and citing images.  It follows a flipped model with pre-class activities required.  The second activity on citing images was created using a Process Orientated Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) framework.  Although this activity is specific to CSE style, the activity could be adapted to any citation style.
